Whether you're looking to transform a dorm room into the ultimate party zone or want some soft lighting under your kitchen cabinets, the Wyze Light Strip Pro makes it easy and affordable to achieve a wide range of accent lighting targets. It's a thin, flexible strip of LED that you can affix to virtually any interior surface; whether it's behind your TV or headboard, or on the edge of a fish tank or ladder; Can control by phone or voice. Starting at $ 33.99, the Light Strip Pro significantly reduces competition without compromising functionality or features. It offers a lot of fun effects and functional automation, has a microphone to harmonize the beat of the music, and works with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. All of this makes it a winner in our selection of new editors for Smart Light Strips.

Wyze Light Strip vs. Light Strip Pro

Wyze makes two versions of this product, Light Strip and Light Strip Pro. Both blue, red and green LED feature clusters are 1 inch apart, which can show 16 million colors. They are available in two lengths: 16.4 feet and 32.8 feet, shyly measure just 0.5 inches wide, feature double-sided tape on the back for easy installation, and life expectancy of 25,000 hours.

As different as they are, the Pro version, priced at .4 33.99 for 16.4 feet or $ 49.99 for 32.8 feet, can display up to 16 different colors at a time and offer innovative lighting effects. The standard light strip, priced at .4 27.99 for 16.4 feet or $ 39.99 for 32.8 feet, can show only one color at a time and offer less and more basic effects of light. The only other difference between the two is that the Pro version has a protective epoxy coating that helps with durability, so if you accidentally get into it, your LEDs are less likely to break. ? However, the epoxy coating does not make it seasonal or waterproof. Both versions are for internal use only.

No matter what you choose, strip a power adapter, controller, alcohol wipes to clean your wall before installation, adhesive clips to strengthen the strip if necessary, And comes with a quick start guide. The 32.8-foot version is not a long strip, but instead has two 16.4-foot straps with a controller in the middle. Unfortunately, you cannot combine multiple Wyze strips together. But the bandages are cut. They have cut marks every 4 inches so you can shorten them to fit your desired location.

Choosing a location and placing the strip

To configure your strip, you must first find an area to install the controller on, ensuring that its cords can reach both the outlet and the location of your desired light. When you find a good spot, wipe it with the included wipe, then uncover the adhesive backing of the controller and stick it firmly in place, making sure the side button is accessible. Next, use a wipe to clean the growing area of ??the strip and let it dry. Finally, apply the strip to the controller, peel off the film with the adhesive baking of the strip, and start pressing it in place.

If you are installing the strip at a 90 degree angle, Wyze says to avoid bending where the LED is located. Instead, make a loop and tighten each side with the included clip. If the strip is too long for your desired location, you can cut it to a specific mark. Just make sure the power adapter is plugged in before doing so. If the adhesive backing isn't strong enough, you can use the included clips to strengthen the strap, but I didn't need that.

For me, the hardest part of the growing process was choosing a place where the controller and power cord would be hidden. I installed the Light Strip Pro on the molding around my room window, and it works perfectly in this space. Since I have a sofa under the window, the controller and cords are not visible. The entire process of site selection, molding and wall cleaning, and light stripping took about 45 minutes.

Once you've mounted the bar, open the Wyze app (available for Android and iOS), tap the plus sign in the upper left corner of the Home tab, select Add Device> Wyze Light Strip Pro. Then, hold down the side button on the controller for seven seconds to keep it in pairing mode. The LEDs on the controller will glow blue and yellow to indicate that the pair is ready to pair, after which you can follow the instructions in the Wyze app to connect the device to your account. ?

When setting it up, you'll need to allow the app to access your location and use Bluetooth. After giving those permissions and selecting your home Wi-Fi network, the app will start searching for your light strip. On testing, he found the strip almost immediately, then gave me the option to customize the name, and I was good to go.

Significant effects and automation

You can use the Voice Mounted Controller with LightStrip Pro, your phone via the Wyze app, or your voice via Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant.

The controller has two buttons. The front button lets you change the color of the bar (press once), or turn it on and off (press and hold). The side button lets you toggle the mode (press once) or put the strip in pairing mode (press and hold).

The Wyze app offers more granular controls. If you have multiple strips, you can group them together to control them, or set them apart to control them individually. At the top of the app, there is an on / off button and a dim slider that lets you adjust the brightness of the bar from 1 to 100%.

The rest of the features are organized into three main sections: Design, Scenes and Music. In the upper right corner is a settings menu with options to automate your lighting.

In the design section, you can manually select the color or white tone from the wheel (1,800K warm to 6,500K cool), or choose one of the default switches.

Wyze app

In Scenes, you can choose from defaults such as Night Light, Cozy, Bright, and Energized (all different shades of white), as well as some other color options, including Energy, Gaming, Movie, and Meditation. Wyze offers the same default scenes for the best bulb color, making it easy to integrate your lighting scheme if you have both devices. And if you don't like any of them, you can customize the look to tap your strip with the white tone or color of your choice.

In the music, Wyze Shadow, Leap, Flickr, Marquee, Color Focus, Water, Sea View, Shooting Star, and Starlight offer numerous custom effects with names that make Light Strip Pro Flash look like you have a I'm annoyed. The controller has a built-in microphone, so it will sync with the beat when you're playing music, a feature that worked well in testing. When you first tap in the music section, Wyze displays a warning for anyone with photosensitive epilepsy.

After selecting the music effect, you can set the sensitivity to low, normal, or high. Choose from additional options for how the light is displayed (depending on which effect you choose); And choose up to four colors or toggle on AutoColor, which creates a rainbow. It's a lot of fun to play with different music options. These are the features that set the Pro model apart from the standard version. In testing, I noticed that they did a good job of harmonizing the lights with the music.

If you want to create a party atmosphere at home, go for the Pro version, as the standard strip can only shine one color at a time and offer low light effects.

In the settings, there are a number of features that make it easy to automate your light strip, including sleep routines, timers, vacation mode, and sun match. With sleep routines, you can program it to end automatically when you wake up in the morning, or it fades when you go to bed at night. Timers allow you to program the bar to automatically turn on or off at a specific time. Holiday mode automatically turns the strip on and off at different times of the day to make it look like you're at home. The Sun Match automatically adjusts the color temperature of the strip throughout the day to mimic natural sunlight.

With Alexa and Google Assistant, you can use your voice to turn the Light Strip Pro on and off, as well as adjust its brightness and color. Virtual assistants let you set up routines to automate your lighting.

To pair the strip with Alexa, open the Wyze app, go to your account settings, tap Smart Integrations, then follow the on-screen instructions. To connect it with Google Assistant, launch the Google Home app, tap the plus sign in the upper left corner> Set up device> Works with Google, then find the Wyze Home list and log in with your Wyze credentials. Do them In testing, I had no problem connecting the Light Strip Pro to both virtual assistants. LightStrip Pro always responds quickly to voice commands such as, "Alexa, turn on my living room LightStrip Pro," and, "Hey Google, turn off my Office LightStrip."

Cheap Accent Lighting with Party Vibes

Wyze has a history of offering feature-rich and easy-to-use smart home gadgets at competitive prices, and the Light Strip Pro is no exception. This significantly reduces the selection of our previous editors in this category, the TP-Link Kasa Smart Multicolor Light Strip, which is priced at $ 69.99 and is only 6.6 feet long. Other light strips we've reviewed, including the Eve Light Strip and the Philips Hue Play Gradient Lightstrip, cost even more. Wyze Light Strip Pro makes it easy and affordable to add colorful accent lights to the back of your TV, or any other level inside your home, at a much lower cost than our Editors' Choice Award Is.

As far as getting the Light Strip Pro or saving a few dollars on the standard model, both versions offer a range of instant shell and rod installation, support app and voice control, effects and automation, and a microphone for it. ? Music sync. They can display millions of colors as well as a range of white tones, but the standard light strip can only shine one at a time, while the Pro version can output up to 16 colors simultaneously. If you just want the basic accent light, you're probably fine with the standard version. But if you want to brighten up your room like a disco, apply Spring for Light Strip Pro.
