Need some extra light for reading, puzzles, or selfies? At. 54.99, the Wyze Floor Lamp has a 4,000K cool white temperature with 15 groups of individual condenser lenses that form a narrow, 23 degree light beam for illumination. It connects to your phone via Bluetooth, allowing you to turn it on and off, adjust the brightness, and create light schedules. With at least all black designs, it's about 6 feet long and its neck is flexible, so you can adjust it to shine anywhere you need focused light. The included Remote offers 11 brightness levels and the lamp uses AI to determine your lighting preferences when you turn it on and off, then your desired settings are automatically applied. It doesn't have Wi-Fi, so you can't control your phone's light when you're out of Bluetooth range, and it doesn't support IFTTT or voice control. Despite these limitations, the Wyze Floor Lamp is an excellent all-in-one task light.
Price and design of Wyze floor lamp
The floor lamp has a sleek black frame, and it only comes in that color. The modern, absolutely black look isn't my personal aesthetic, but it's a simple design that almost allows the lamp to dim in the background.
Its metal base is quite large at 11.82 inches in diameter, but the pole is only half an inch too thin, so it can easily fit in a tight space. The lamp is 73.76 inches long and has a wide neck. The top of the neck is 24 inches flexible, so you can place it wherever you need it to shine. The lamp weighs just 7.06 pounds, making it easy to move around.
Wyze includes a small circular Bluetooth remote, which lets you dim / illuminate the light and turn it on and off from a distance of 50 feet. The remote is magnetic, so you can stick it on a metal where you know you won't lose it.
The bulb is shaped like a PAR30, uses a standard E26 base, and features 15 groups of individual condenser lenses that form a narrow 23 degree beam for task lighting. "Focused light will shine only for your dedicated work, without disturbing others around you," says Wyze. As such, it is not a good lamp for ambient, whole room lighting.
The bulb has a cool white temperature of 4,000K and does not change color. It holds out 800 lumens, which is equivalent to about 60 watt incandescent bulbs. The included Remote offers 11 brightness levels. The Wyze app has more granular adjustments, allowing you to dim it from 1 to 100%.
The color rating index (CRI) of the bulb is 90+. It uses Samsung LED chips that can reach a center brightness of up to 1,400 lux when the bulb is placed 55 inches away from the object or surface being illuminated.
Wyze says the bulb's daylight tone "provides the best lighting for your Instagram videos and photo shoots" but does not replace the professional lighting kit. The company has not assessed its effectiveness as a gardening light (aka "grow light"), but says it can emit "wavelength light" that is good for growing plants. ? "
The lamp is intended for use with incandescent bulbs, which are 25,000 hours old. If you put a different E26 base bulb in the lamp, you will lose the ability to control it remotely and turn it off with a cord switch.
The remote does not work with any other device, including Wyze Bulb and Bulb Color. And unlike the Wyze Bulb, the floor lamp does not support waking and sleeping time routines that gradually light up or dim to help you get up in the morning or fall asleep before going to bed. If you use other wise smart light bulbs, you will not be able to group them in the app with floor lamps. Floor Lamp also lacks integration with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and IFTTT, so you can't control it with your voice or allow it to work with third party devices.
Easy to setup and use
Floor lamps are easy to set up and do not require any tools. All you have to do is assemble the pole, attach it to the base, screw the included bulb into the socket, and attach the lamp to the wall outlet. From there, you can easily turn on the lamp using the cord switch.
Next, install the AAA battery in the remote, then press the small setup button on the side so that it pops out, and a small yellow light will start flashing on the remote. When the bulbs start to glow, press the button on the remote to connect them. Finally, press the setup button again to flush it to the side of the remote, and you should be good to go.
To turn the floor lamp on and off, just press the button on the remote. To dim or illuminate the bulb, rotate the button.
I put a lamp on my desk, and it works well as a task light for my laptop, but its 23 degree beam does not extend to my other monitor. Thanks to the flexible Goznik, I can adjust the light to brighten my face during zoom calls.
The lamp also connects to the Wyze app (available for Android and iOS), so you can control it from your phone and schedule lighting. Unlike the Wyze Bulb, it doesn't have an embedded 2.4GHz Wi-Fi radio, so you can't remotely monitor and control it when it's out of Bluetooth range.
After downloading the app and creating an account, press the plus sign in the upper left corner, tap Add Device, and select Wyze Floor Lamp. Next, approve the Bluetooth permission request, and the app will start searching for your floor lamp. If the app doesn't find it right away, it may instruct you to turn the lamp switch five times to enable pairing mode. After finding and pairing the lamp, the app will ask you for its name. During the setup process, the app asks if you want to share the lamp with a family member; If so, just enter their email address to send them a sharing request.
In the middle of the app is a large power button that lets you remotely turn the lamp on or off and adjust its brightness. Below this is a delay timer button, which allows you to turn off the lamp after a set time (15 seconds, 1 minute, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, or 30 minutes).
The app's scheduling feature lets you program the lamp to automatically turn on, off, or adjust the brightness level at your preferred times. To access it, tap the gear icon> Schedules> Add Schedule. Since I have a lamp in my office, I have a schedule to automatically turn it on and off at 9am every Saturday. In testing, the scheduling feature worked smoothly. At the appointed time, the lamp reliably applies my selected settings. That said, your phone must be within the Bluetooth range for the schedule to work, which is a key limitation.
The app also allows you to enable / disable the smart dimming feature, which lets the lamp know your preferences and adjust the brightness level automatically. To enable it, tap the gear icon, select Smart dimming, then toggle it. Then, after using something with the app or remote, the lamp will monitor your brightness preferences for any time of the day, and adjust the bulb automatically.
"Other lamps may turn on the brightness level of your last use, but the Wyze floor lamp will adjust the brightness itself," a Wyze spokesman explained. "Therefore, your 5pm brightness level may vary depending on your usage habits and your 10pm brightness. Each time you turn it on, it Learns to prioritize your brightness level for a specific time. "
Focused illumination
Considering that smart task lights can run above $ 600 (opens in a new window), the Wyze Floor Lamp costs 54.99. It has a dim, 4,000K cool white bulb and a long flexible neck, so you can position its 23 degree beam to shine wherever additional light is needed. Its remote allows you to cycle through 11 brightness levels that top out at 800 lumens, and its companion app lets you schedule lighting. The lamp also learns your brightness preferences throughout the day, and automatically matches your desired settings. It lacks Wi-Fi connectivity, so you can't control it with your phone outside of the Bluetooth range, and it lacks the voice control and third-party support that you get with many smart bulbs. But if you need an adjusted task light to illuminate what you're working on and help reduce eye strain, Wyze Lamp is worth checking out.
