Smart plugs like the Ezviz T30-10A make it easy to control your phone with fans, lights, coffee makers and other small appliances. At. 14.99, the T30-10A is a small round plug that installs in minutes and works with the smartphone app as well as Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant voice commands. However, unlike some models, it lacks energy reporting and has limited support for third-party smart home devices. And while it's cheap, it's not as good a deal as the Wise plug, which comes in two packs at the same price.

A simple circle

Round T30-10A looks very different from its rectangular brother, the T30-10B, which we reviewed earlier this year. It is a 10-amp / 1,600-watt indoor plug that is 2 inches wide and 1.2 inches thick, with three front outlets on the front and three front plugs on the back. Its small form factor prevents it from blocking the other outlet in the two outlet receptacles.

On the left is a backlit on / off button that glows solid blue when plugged into the network, flashes bright blue during setup, and slowly turns blue when disconnected. The plug-in is equipped with a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi radio to connect to your home network.

The T30-10A does not support IFTTT applets that allow it to interact with third-party smart devices, nor does it support Apple's HomeKit home automation platform, but it does support Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant Voice. Works with commands and routines. It uses the same mobile app as other Ezviz devices including the T30-10B plug, DB1C video doorbell, and LC1C Smart Floodlight camera.

The app opens on a dashboard screen that shows your installed Ezviz camera, doorbell and plug. To open a screen, tap the panel with the T30 plug that turns blue when plugged in and gray when turned off. In the center is a large on / off button, and at the bottom is an additional on / off button, a countdown button, and a timer button. The countdown button is used to set a timer that turns the plug off after a certain period of time, and the timer button is used to schedule on / off specific times of the day and days of the week. Is. With the Ezviz T30-10B, the statistics button is missing for you to view hourly, daily, and monthly power usage reports.

To access the plug's Wi-Fi settings and enable the power recovery feature, tap the gear icon in the upper right corner, which restores the plug to its previous state in case of loss of power. There is also a time zone settings, a switch to turn off the LED status light, and a switch to enable notifications when the plug is offline.

Installing and using the T30-10A

Installing the T30-10A was quick and painless in the test. I already had the app on my phone, but if this is your first ezines device, you'll need to download the app and create an account. I tapped the Plus icon in the upper right corner of the Devices screen and selected Smart Plugs from the list. When prompted, I used my phone's camera to scan the QR code on the side of the plug, power it up, and confirm that the LED was glowing blue. I selected my Wi-Fi SSID, entered my Wi-Fi password, and tapped Next to connect the plugin to my network. After 30 seconds, the plugin connected to my account and was automatically added to my Alexa device list. I gave it a name and the installation was finished.

In testing, the T30-10A responded quickly to on / off commands when using both the mobile app and Alexa voice commands. I've made an Alexa routine to plug in when the color stick up cam battery camera detects movement and it works every time without any problems. The plugin also followed my on / off schedule.

Simple and affordable, but limited

$ 14.99 With the Ezviz T30-10A Smart Plug, you don't have to spend a lot of money to convert traditional devices into smart devices. This single outlet smart plugin was easy to install and worked according to our tests, and it had no problem answering Alexa voice commands and working with Alexa routines. That said, it offers limited third-party integration and lacks energy use reporting. The winner of our editorial selection in this category, Wise Plug, is a much better deal. True, it also lacks energy usage reporting, but it works with many third-party tools and you get two plugs at the same price as the T30-10A, making it a better buy. ?
